My career path was somewhat linear once I set my mind on what I wanted to do. From my first tech job working in auto lead generation, I knew that I wanted to pursue digital marketing. It was actually in that job when I discovered my love for paid digital advertising. I've had great mentorship and guidance since then, and I'm so grateful for that.
I chose a career in digital marketing because I loved the concept of convincing someone to see the value of your ideas. I think that's the fabric our society is built on, and it was a skill I didn't even know I had been refining for years.
My favourite part about working in the field would be the dynamic nature of the marketing landscape. There are so many different businesses that do things differently as far as marketing goes, and it's really interesting to see everyone's approach to how they do things.
I don't have anyone that really inspires me. I want to become my own role model and do the things that I think I should be doing to be successful. Of course I watch what people better than me are doing and refine my skills that way, but I don't want to look at anyone as a role model at this point in time. I am still working on solidifying my own identity as a marketer :)
I think that digital marketing is headed towards virtual reality and experiential marketing. We see native advertising in every corner of the media we consume. With every step we move closer toward VR media and technology, we see digital marketing follow behind in every track.
I'd become a fishing guide for sure. Nothing like getting paid to get a tight line in the outdoors. 🎣
I wanted to be a fighter jet pilot... 😅 My horrible vision wouldn't let me though..
